Engineered Quartz

Los cuarzos sintéticos están compuestos principalmente por resinas de polímero.
Se utiliza principalmente para cubiertas en cocinas. Materiales relacionados con la
fabricación de este producto incluyen: geopolímeros y piedra artificial.
A diferencia de terrazo, el material (corte u pulido) está hecho en fábrica y se ensamblan
en sitio. Los cuarzos sintéticos están ganando popularidad y con frecuencia es subsituido
por otros materiales como el granito, porque lla piedra sintética requiere menos
mantenimiento en comparación con los granitos, ya que no requiere sellar para ofrecer
una mejor resistencia a las manchas.
Sin embargo, reciententemente la revista "Consumer Reports" revela que prácticamente
no hay ninguna diferencia en rendimiento entre los productos de cuarzo sintético y los
granitos naturales.

Engineered stone is a composite material made of crushed stone bound together by
a polymer resin. It is used primarily for kitchen countertops. Related materials
include geopolymers and cast stone. Unlike terrazzo, the material is factory made in
slabs, cut and polished by fabricators, and assembled at the worksite.

Engineered stone products are gaining in popularity and are sometimes preferred
over granite products because engineered stone requires less maintenance.
Compared to unsealed granite, it has better resistance to stains. However, recent
research reported in Consumer Reports magazine reveals virtually no difference in
performance between quartz products and sealed granite.
